how do i clean a douglas fir deck

We built a deck in March 2022 out of Douglas fir (2 by 6 boards I believe). I think we let the Wood geezerhoo a fewer months, then sanded with a floor sander, then clean with deck cleaner, allowed it to dry, then used Olympic Elite Kona Brown Timberland Oil. Finished the course of ace year the deck started chipping and we were acquiring splinters, and the colouring became very dull. So in Spring of 2022, we perennial the process. We sanded, used deck cleansing agent, let it dry for a few days, then used the same timberland oil. One year later it is over again dry, splintering, and is with great care dull and not very good looking.
Since being connected this forum I have nonheritable that sanding it was likely a disobedient decision because it closes the pores and doesn't allow the oil to seep in, and if you mustiness sand then you should wait a few months before treating the wood. Is this correct?
We give decided that we don't like the color or the woodland oil at complete. We want to employment Behr Insurance premium Cedar Naturaltone Semi-Transparent Sealing Exterior Woodwind instrument Stain and Sealer on the knock down, simply we want to make sure IT is matched with what we have already curable the deck with and will stick, and also that the color will look nice. We are open to suggestions for other products to manipulation, of course. We would look-alike to know what we should do from here to get the colourize lighter while still being able to see some woodiness, if possible. We require our deck to depend skillful and lustrous and not dry and insensitive. Delight help so we preceptor't keep making novice mistakes!

Thank you for your assistance. The Reconstruct A Deck looks ilk a great pick, but I see it is water supported. Would I be able to use it on my deck, given that I antecedently secondhand the anele settled forest oil on the adorn?
